If Today is Your Day

“You can choose courage or you can choose comfort, but you cannot have both.”  – Brene Brown

If you’ve lived into adulthood you have had many moments of deciding between courage and comfort.  And every day as adults we have many more.

As a coach, as a mom, as a woman, I witness many courageous moments.  And I see that this year – 2017 –  is a BIG YEAR.  This year is is bringing up a LOT for many people.

Women are stepping into more power.  Scales are coming off.  Fears are coming up and what has held some of us back is now being scrutinized – Our roles, our perceptions, our positions and personal codes are being held under the microscope and then pulled apart for further examination.

We are less afraid, it seems.  What worked for us in the past will not necessarily work for us now and it will take stretching beyond the points of previous reaches, to get to where our hearts pull us.

We are ferocious in this task to RISE ABOVE.  To rise above our personal demons.  To fight the power of comfort in the forms of stagnancy and complacency.  It claws at our ankles, sinks its icy teeth into our calves.

but we have . . . Courage.

And like a fever, Courage bursts forth from blazing hearts.  It embraces the fear and melts uncertainty.

This is spiritual.

A rising of courage.  The kind of courage that allows us to be fully seen, acknowledged and to come up from it.  To come up fuller.  More alive.  More awake in our purpose and power.

Perhaps you’re wrestling with this today.  You’re weighing freedom against heartache; power against ease.  Decide what your battle is today.  And if it’s to wait, then wait – Even the mightiest heroes needed rest in order to rejuvenate.

But if today is your day:  Then fight.  Fight your best fight and fight with Courage.
